The plan is in place. Now all he has to do is get the girl.

Black Callum Mackinnon, Laird of Achnaseen, desperately wants to end the feud with the Drummond clan. He believes that marriage to the Drummond’s daughter will ensure peace between the clans. He kidnaps Mhairi Drummond, takes her to his castle and insists that she will marry him. Mhairi does not agree with this edict and does what she can to thwart Callum’s plans.

Mhairi Drummond is the very pretty, and only child of the Drummond. She is renowned for her beauty and her usual gentle nature. However, her wild side comes out when she is kidnapped by Callum. She attempts many times to escape from his castle, despite Callum telling her they will marry. As the days go on her cousin comes to try and rescue her, but Callum’s words start her thinking about how much peace there is in his castle and that Callum rules by thought and word. She notices that her father is different in this respect and rules by fear. She does agree the two clans need to find a peace between them.

Another time but highlanders! Again Ms Campbell has delivered a highlander story with characters who have an intense relationship. I really like the feisty Mhairi and how she challenged Callum at every turn. What was entertaining was that sometimes Callum never saw it coming as he was on a ‘particular path’ and Mhairi kept leaving that path and he had to bring her back.
