Reader review: Hunger Untamed

Hunger Untamed by Pamela Palmer

Release date: 22 Feb 2011

This is the fifth book in Pamela Palmer’s Feral Warrior series and another fantastic story in my eyes.

Pamela Palmer has built a world of Immortal Shifter Warriors. Where once there were 26 different animals now there are only eight shifters left due to wars between the daemons and the mage.

Hunger Untamed is Kougar’s story. He has tended to be a bit of a loner and private person after having his mating bond severed 1000 years ago by his mate Ariana, Queen of the Ilian Race. Thinking her dead, he becomes quiet and bitter but still a very loyal member of the Feral Warriors.

Ariana, the Queen of the Ilian, broke the mating bond 1000 years before after being infected by a poison through a Mage sorcerer known to her as Hookeye. She did this thinking to save her people, the maiden warriors of mist and light, and Kougar, her mate. Ariana has had to feed the darkness with pain and live as a human for 1000 years not realising how much she needed Kougar’s help.

Kougar did find out that Ariana was alive 25 years earlier but thinks that she is soulless and becomes bitter and determined to stay away from her even though he still feels a bond for her. But when two of the feral warriors are trapped in a spirit trap after a battle between the daemons, the mage and the feral warriors, Kougar knows that the only person who can save his warrior brothers is Ariana. He sets out to find Ariana and get her aid to release the trapped warriors. He then intends to leave her, but as the darkness grows, together they realise how strong their love and passion is and they re-ignite that passion and work together to save the feral warriors and the Ilian race.

This story is filled with adventure as Kougar and Ariana plot and plan to defeat their enemy even though they initially try to hide their feelings. The love and passion between this pair was explosive and the story gripped me from the first page. It was a thoroughly enjoyable read from start to finish. I really enjoyed this story as Pamela draws the reader into another world that is well built, the characters come to life as you learn more about their immortal lives and the fight the feral warriors are having to save the world from the daemon. Of course the romance throughout the books is filled with such feeling that they are hard books to put down.
