Author spotlight: Sarah Jane Duncan

2 September 2021

In the lead-up to ARR2021 in December we will be spotlighting the authors who will be signing. In the spotlight today we have Sarah Jane Duncan.

Who was the first romance author to catch your interest?

It had been a long time since I picked up a book, but when I started hearing all the hype about the Twilight Saga, I couldn’t help myself, and it was that series by Stephenie Meyer that got me back into reading.

What do you write?

I write dark contemporary romance in first person. I am hoping to dive into paranormal romance down the track sometime, though 😊

Which usually comes to you first—characters or plot (or something else)?

My writing usually results from a scene or scenario that pops into my head. I try to build from it. See what sort of plot would fit and how it can potentially grow. I have SO MANY ideas written down! I don’t think I’ll ever get a chance to write them all!!

Choose one of your books to turn into a movie—who would you cast in the lead roles?

The Heavy Hearts series. I would cast Margot Robbie as Lexi and Dylan O’Brien as Ayden.

Tell us about your latest release in 100 words or less:

Buried is my most recent release, which is book 3, the final book, in the Heavy Hearts series. Lexi’s dream of happiness with Ayden is just a breath away, but there are so many obstacles in the way, and everything comes to a head. With threats coming at her from every direction, and chilling twists that will bring Lexi to her knees, she realises the only way for the nightmare to end, is to fight to the death.

What else are you working on in 2021?

I’ve just started working on my next series, which is hush hush for now, but I can say that the characters link back to the Heavy Hearts series, and this series is a reverse harem with a lot of heat.
