Release day: The Highlander’s Rescued Maiden

31 March 2021

Today is the official release of The Highlander’s Rescued Maiden by Anna Campbell (The Lairds Most Likely #9) (ebook, self-published). Here’s the blurb:

Across the Highlands, people recount the legend of a beautiful lassie in a tower, locked away from her clamorous suitors by a tyrannical father. Any person of sense dismisses the story as a fairy tale, no more substantial than a wisp of Scottish mist.

Rogue or hero? Or a little bit of both?

Dashing Highlander Will Mackinnon is a devil with the ladies, disinclined to fall for such romantic nonsense. But one day, his storm-tossed boat washes ashore at a rocky island dominated by a stone tower. Inside the tower, he discovers lovely, gallant Ellen Cameron and a passion that eclipses anything he’s experienced before in his reckless life.

Danger and desire…

This brave adventurer vows to rescue the captive maiden and make her his own forever. But dark shadows gather about the lovers and threaten to destroy all their hopes for happiness. Will has found the love of a lifetime – but will it end up costing him his life?

Anna dropped by today to tell us a little about this book:

It’s always a bittersweet moment to reach the end of a series—and at 10 books, the Lairds Most Likely is the longest series I’ve ever done. There’s the excitement of looking forward to meeting new characters in new places, but there’s also sadness in leaving behind people I’ve loved spending time with. After several years wandering round the Highlands, I’ve released book 9, The Highlander’s Rescued Maiden (book 10 is a re-release of an anthology story that came out last Christmas). This is one of the 18th-century stories about earlier generations of the Mackinnons of Achnasheen, and it picks up themes from The Highlander’s Christmas Quest (2019). If you’ve read that, you’ll know that the hero sets out to rescue the legendary Fair Ellen of the Isles who has been locked in an isolated tower by her tyrannical father. That earlier hero doesn’t get there, but in Rescued Maiden, Will Mackinnon, the dashing heir to Achnasheen, comes ashore on a mysterious rocky island to discover that Fair Ellen is no myth. There’s a touch of the Rapunzels about this one—and quite a bit of steam! I hope you’ll find it a fitting end to a series that I’ve very much enjoyed writing.

You can find out more about this book at Anna’s website or buy it from Amazon.
