1 May 2019

Today is the official release of Penniless Virgin to Sicilian’s Bride by Melanie Milburne (ebook and paperback, Harlequin Presents). Here’s the blurb:

“Marry me this weekend.”

He will wed his Cinderella!

Sicilian billionaire Gabriel Salvetti offers a simple exchange—for her hand in marriage, he’ll save Francesca Mancini’s ancestral home. Penniless Frankie has the aristocratic name Gabriel needs to redeem his family’s notorious reputation. And their blatant physical attraction can only sweeten the deal. But when he discovers his convenient bride is a secret virgin, one taste is enough to make Gabriel crave his wife—forever!

Lose yourself in this tale of innocence and desire…

Melanie dropped by today to tell us a little about this book:

I was reading a memoir where the issue of shame was explored and it triggered a story idea, as reading any type of book often does. I came up with my hero Gabriel Salvetti who comes from a notorious Sicilian crime family and his desire to distance himself from the shame of coming from “bad blood”. That saying: “we choose our friends, not our family” is so true in Gabriel’s case. I’m sure most of us have an embarrassing relative or two in our family tree. Now, here’s a thought—you or I might even be the embarrassing one! ☺ I decided my virginal heroine Francesca Mancini (Frankie) would be perfect for Gabriel. Not just for her innocence and respectability, but for her sensitivity and her own lingering feelings of shame and inadequacy. It was an interesting book to write as I spent a lot of time thinking about the things that shame us—things we have little or no control over. I hope you enjoy Penniless Virgin to Sicilian’s Bride and are able to move past things in your own life that have weighed you down.
