He has been scarred for life and has tried to hide behind a mask. This all comes to an end when he meets her.

Jasper Grantham is the third son of the Marquess of Strathern. He was part of Draven’s suicide squad during the war. After the war, he takes on jobs that mean he has to skulk in the shadows and that is what he wants, to avoid exposing himself, both emotionally and physically. He then finds his latest job means his whole world is turned upside down and he can no longer hide behind the mask he wears.

Olivia Carlisle was the belle of society and was destined to be the wife of the Duke of Withernsea. Then one night the duke raped her. His reasoning was that she was his anyway. Olivia decided to flee especially when she finds herself pregnant. She has had to deal with living a life, with a child, away from London. And she has been somewhat successful for a pampered belle even if her life has been basic.

Jasper is tasked with finding her for her father as her mother is ill and wants to see her daughter before she dies. Jasper is stabbed, and Olivia and her son take care of him until they can return to London as her location has been revealed. When they return, Jasper is sidelined but the danger is still present for both Olivia and Jasper. Jasper and Draven’s crew need to protect Olivia and her son from the threat, but it is hard when the threat is closer to home than both realised.

This is another wonderful story in this series by Ms Galen. The stories just get better. I await each story as they are published as I want to read what happens to the next member of Draven’s squad.
