Release day: Second Chance with the Single Dad

1 February 2019

Today is the official release of Second Chance with the Single Dad by Kandy Shepherd (ebook and print, Mills & Boon). Here’s the blurb:

From long-lost friends…

To newfound family?

Georgia and Wil were best friends until he married and disappeared from her life. Now he’s back, asking Georgia to forget the past and help him secure his future—the daughter he never knew he had! Georgia’s heart goes out to new dad Wil, but there’s an uncharted chemistry fizzing between them and she must protect her heart. Can they confront their unspoken attraction and finally become a family?

Kandy dropped by today to tell us a little about this book:

When wedding anniversary time comes around, how often do you hear a friend say ‘I married my best friend’ as explanation for many happy years together? In both my own life and in my books, I’ve been a fan of the quick flare of flames rather than the slow burn. I’ve championed love at first sight (my husband and I decided to spend our lives together after three days) rather than friendship evolving into love. But there must be something to all these best friends so happy together! So I thought I’d explore ‘friends to lovers’—and I thoroughly enjoyed writing Georgia and Wil’s story. Along the way, ‘friends and lovers’ also became ‘surprise baby’ (not theirs!) and a ‘reunion romance’ as well! I always fall in love with my characters, and Wil and Georgia are no exception. Wil has a troubled background and Georgia has a few obstacles to overcome before they can allow themselves to commit to true love. They’ve travelled the safe ‘friendship’ path, but those tiny, flickering flames of something deeper have always been there. It takes them coming together over baby Nina (an adorable secondary character I also fell in love with!) for them to take the chance on a happy-ever-after journey. Another thing I loved about writing this book was I got to create my dream house on Sydney’s northern beaches, right down to the wet-edge pool and the banks of flowering hydrangeas. Oh, and there’s also a cat—I love it when I can sneak one onto the pages! (And a couple of horses, too.) I hope you’ll enjoy reading Second Chance with the Single Dad as much as I enjoyed writing it!
