Patisseries and passion

It’s no surprise my new release and first book for the sizzling Harlequin DARE series features a patisserie.

There’s something infinitely comforting about entering a place filled with warmth, buzz and the aromas of cinnamon and vanilla. The low hum of chatter among happy patrons sampling sweet delights. The quandary of staring at the display case and dithering over what to choose. We’ve all been there, right?

My heroine in Sweet Thing, Abby, is a divorcee from a rich family and she’s in desperate need of comfort. So what does she do on the day she walks out on her marriage? She follows her dream to become a pastry chef by strolling into her favourite patisserie to ask for a job.

It takes time, but working in an environment surrounded by sugar and spice heals Abby. Until nightclub owner Tanner King struts in as her part-time boss. The sexy inked bad boy disrupts her inner peace, especially when she discovers the guy can cook.

It’s not just the warmth from the ovens heating things up in the kitchen when she watches Tanner create magic with his hands …

I love writing in cafés for the vibe. There’s something about being surrounded by all that atmosphere that fuels my creativity. And if that café has a patisserie attached … I get an idea for a new story!

Sweet Thing is out now in Australia/NZ/UK and releases in the US on 1 March. Wild Thing releases June and Play Thing in September. When Abby’s friends demanded their own stories, what’s a writer to do?

To celebrate the release of Sweet Thing, I’m giving away a copy (AUS/NZ only.) To be in the running, what is your favourite sweet indulgence? The giveaway will close on 10 March. (The giveaway is now closed. Congratulations to Lynette.)

Sweet Thing

One night was supposed to ease her craving …

But after one taste, she’s hooked!

Abby loves her new life working at Sydney’s finest patisserie. Working alongside brooding new man-in-charge Tanner is an unexpected but delicious challenge, especially as each night their attraction only grows hotter! But Tanner’s past is as dark as the ink on his skin … He’ll let her get closer than close in the bedroom, but dare Abby go deeper?
