Feature book: Bound by the Unborn Baby
Bound by the Unborn Baby by Bella Bucannon
The unborn baby is a shock to him. Should he trust the woman who is his sister’s surrogate?
Alina Fletcher has turned up in Australia with news that she is the surrogate for his sister and her husband. Ethan is unable to verify this information as his sister and her husband have died. Alina wasn’t sure what to do but she wanted to let Louise’s beloved brother know about his niece or nephew. Alina has a sad story and has spent much time travelling around Europe, just existing. She explains to Ethan why they never met when he was in Spain as Louise and she wanted to keep that friendship to one side. Finally Alina is able to let go of her past and look to the future.
Ethan James is mostly self-made. He is resentful that his parents are mainly motivated by image rather than love for their children. They did not approve of his sister’s choice of husband which probably explains why his sister moved to Spain. Ethan does what he does and organises. He organises Alina’s life and says that the easiest way is for them to marry. Afterwards she can go back to Spain but this will help him keep the child with little complication.
This story takes on the complexity of surrogate birth with the added death of the parents, and fortunately the issues are resolved to everyone’s satisfaction. It is the story of a lost woman and the self-made man who is blindsided by the idea of his niece or nephew leaving the family through adoption. I really enjoyed this debut from Ms Bucannon. It has all the elements that a romance reader will enjoy.
