This week we are talking about…

Session 5A—Who do you think they are?

This panel will be an in-depth look at characters in romances. It will ask the panellists: Who are your characters and where did they come from? How much time do you spend developing a character before you start writing them? How important are the little details? Authors give examples of their development process for a specific character.

The panellists

5a-photosAvril Tremayne writes steamy contemporary romances and urban romantic comedies and currently has seven books published through Penguin Random House and Harlequin. She lives in Sydney, New South Wales.

Diane Demetre is the author of three red-hot erotic romances in her Dance of Love series. Her debut novel, Dancing Queen, book 1 in the series, was voted Luminosity Publishing Readers’ Choice Award for Best Book and Best Cover 2015. Tiny Dancer and Dance to a Gypsy Beat, books 2 and 3 in the series, were released in 2016. Diane lives on the glamourous Gold Coast in Queensland.

Lisa Ireland is the author of three rural romances. Her novel Feels Like Home was one of the top ten highest selling novels by a debut author in 2015 (source: Nielsen Bookscan) and she was a finalist in ARRA’s Best New Author Award in 2014. Lisa lives in Ocean Grove, Victoria.

Vanessa Carnevale writes women’s fiction and freelance articles. Her debute title, The Florentine Bridge, a love story about la dolce vita in Tuscany, is due out in January 2017. Vanessa lives in Melbourne, Victoria.
