Feature book: The Cowgirl’s Forever Family
The Cowgirl’s Forever Family by Helen Lacey
Just when all things seem to be going against her, a small ray of joy comes into her life. But can Brooke hold the lawyer at arm’s length or will her attraction to him make her risk all?
Brooke Laughton has been holding the family farm together for five years. It is five years since her parents died and her brother left. The property has been deteriorating due to the lack of money. Brooke is convinced that she will get ahead, eventually. She desperately wants a family of her own but when her fiancé left her, she was devastated but keeps trying to move on. When her niece lands on her doorstep, in the arms of a lawyer, she hopes that she can care for the baby if her brother can’t.
Tyler Madden is an up and coming lawyer from New York. He has come to Cedar River to deliver a baby to Matthew, Brooke’s brother. He has grown somewhat attached to Cara but knows he has to hand her over to the father, if he is a suitable father. Tyler gives Matt a week to arrive at the farm. Brooke wants to spend time with her niece but also gets to know Tyler.
This is a very sweet story. Brooke is trying hard to put her life back together after a disastrous five years. Her struggles are obvious and her niece, Cara, comes into her life and makes her want to believe again and look to the future. The reader gets to feel this as the story progresses. Tyler is the typical lawyer, then he starts to realise Brooke is what he needs and he must find a solution so they can be together. The ending is very satisfying.
