Feature book: The Bridesmaid’s Baby Bump
The Bridesmaid’s Baby Bump by Kandy Shepherd
This is the long-awaited third book in the Sydney Brides series. And this book was well worth the wait.
Eliza Dunne and Jake Marlowe are attracted to each other. However, Jake is still married and must deal with that before he can see Eliza. He wants to be with her but also wants the space to think after his messy divorce. Eliza thinks it is her and she intends to get away for a break to a point that is almost away from everything.
Jake intercepts her and takes her to his retreat, which is better than a resort. Here they can talk and be together. Once they have returned to the real world and its problems, Eliza discovers she is pregnant. Jake is at first suspicious as it is how his first wife secured a wedding ring. Eliza cannot handle the suspicion and he has a contract prepared for after the baby’s birth. Jake puts pressure on Eliza until she can take no more. Their reunion comes at the palace in Montovia among their friends.
This being the third book we are treated to insights into the other characters we have grown to know and check in to see how they are doing in their marriages. We do get more of the story from Jake and how he came to be friends with Tristan and Dominic. We also see how the women resolve the Party Queens dilemma.
However, the essence is the Jake and Eliza story. It is so nice to see how they are attracted to each other and then when that attraction explodes into passion and a baby. It is how their backgrounds light the way for them to be together but they have to deal with the misunderstandings first.
