A Romantic High Tea: wrap-up
On the Saturday of the Awards Dinner we also hosted A Romantic High Tea, with six of our favourite romance authors (Amy Andrews, Anne Gracie, Cathryn Hein, Kelly Hunter, Rachael Johns and Helene Young) hosting a table each. With three hours to chat and nibble on special treats, both authors and readers had a lovely time.
Each host author brought along a special gift for their guests too.
Amy Andrews gave her guests a gift bag that included three stories, chocolates and a mini torch.
Anne Gracie had hand-made dangly earrings with crystals and faux pearls, along with a matching bracelet and a paper fan that she had signed.
Cathryn Hein had a mug with the cover of April’s Rainbow on it, with a little bouquet of Chup-a-Chups, and a tiny adhesive butterfly.
Helene Young gave all her guests a photo book, featuring photos taken on her travels on Roobinesque.
Kelly Hunter had sets of earrings she had made that looked like little red umbrellas (to match her website). She also had a bundle of books that she signed and gave away.
Rachael Johns had a ‘Keep Calm and Read Rachael Johns’ mug filled with chocolates for each of her guests.
Our heartfelt thanks to the author hosts, to Harlequin Australia for sponsoring the event, and to all the readers who came along. Thank you also to Joanne Boog for the photos.
The event was so successful that we are considering making it a regular event. Not only on awards days in Sydney, but also during the year in other cities. We would like this to be the start of a series of Romantic High Teas around Australia. We plan to start with two more high teas this year—one in Brisbane and one in Melbourne.
We are interested in hearing from authors who would like to host a table in their local area, as well as readers who are interested in being part of organising a Romantic High Tea event near them. Email us at firstname.lastname@example.org to register your interest.
