Feature book: Bidding on Her Boss
Bidding on Her Boss by Rachel Bailey
Desperate to get her ideas to where they will be noticed, Faith Crawford decides on a desperate measure.
She is desperate to show the CEO of her company she too has ideas that would work in the company. What better way to get time with him than to bid in the bachelor auction. She has designed the dates around showing him what she can do with flowers. The hitch in the plan is that employees are not allowed to date, but she is determined that won’t thwart her plans.
Dylan Hawke is known as the playboy in the family. He takes the family business very seriously and is always looking for ways to improve their position. Dylan is surprised when their first date is at the flower shop. He is also surprised Faith chooses to show him a standard flower display. He senses she has much more creativity. Recognising Faith’s talent with flower design, he tells her the family secrets on flower development. Faith is offered an opportunity to use her creative energy, but this means leaving Los Angeles and Dylan.
This is book 2 in the Hawke Brothers series. I liked that Dylan and Faith were able to show they liked each other with the beginnings of a relationship that could become a rules-be-dammed approach to the strictures on workplace relationships. This tentative approach is a way to find out their suitability for each other but means they are wary of being discovered.
In this book, we get a glimpse of Adam (next story) and also Liam and Jenna (book one) and where they are in their respective relationships. The ending, as expected, is a HEA, but I particularly liked how it was resolved. It is certainly a read that will give you a feeling of satisfaction and warmth.
