Runaway LiesRunaway Lies by Shannon Curtis

Darcy Montgomery is an honest and hardworking woman who is on the run and trying to stay alive. So many things have happened in her life. She decides that being on the run is better than being in a safe house. She has had to turn her back on her family—the father she loves, her brother and his family—all because of her ex-boss. She discovers he has cheated so many people, including her family, in a crooked investment scheme. So she has changed her name and looks, and she is driving around NSW until the court case and is trying to stay under the radar. Then she becomes a heroine by saving the lives of two small children. The media swarms, and she is injured and takes the protection that is offered to her by the children’s father, wealthy businessman, Dominic St James—Mr Hot Property.

Dominic St James lost his family when he was young in a horrific tragedy, and family means everything to him. He is now a wealthy businessman. He has twins, a son and a daughter, but he is divorced from his socialite wife Ava. He has sole custody of the children, but they stay with their mother for short holidays. Then there is an accident involving his ex and the children, and they are nearly killed. His ex is missing, and he is shattered but is determined to give Darcy whatever he can to repay her for saving his children. She is weary of the limelight, so he takes her to his country property where security is at a maximum.

There is such a spark of electricity between Dominic and Darcy, but there are also so many lies. Dominic does everything he can for Darcy by organising physio and gives her a safe haven in which to stay. While there she becomes very close to the children, the housekeeper (Gertrude) and her husband (Roland). She feels increasingly guilty about her lies as they become closer than they should. Darcy does try hard to tell Dominic what has happened, but something always seems to stop her. When Dominic’s head of security, Alex Knight, has his family (who are in the police force) check Darcy out because he is wary of her, things start to happen and there is lots of danger.

I loved this story. It is fast paced and filled with action. It is also emotional, and the romance is very moving. This story has everything that a romance reader needs in a story. It grabbed me from the first page, and had me enthralled all the way through. It had me crying and cheering them on (when the bad guys were around) and sitting on the edge of my seat. It is so well written, and the cast of characters bring so much to the story. They are such a big family, and I do hope that we see more of them having their own stories. Don’t miss this one. It packs a punch with the WOW factor.
