Release day: The Darkling Lord
Today is the official release of The Darkling Lord by Shona Husk (print and ebook, self-published). Here’s the blurb:
Henry Saint shouldn’t exist. Every year on his birthday, he kills someone and takes their soul so that he may live another year. He is a darkling, not fairy… but not human either. Yet he is bound by the laws of both worlds. With a new King on the throne of Annwyn and the mortal world trying to rebuild after plagues killed so many, Henry seizes the opportunity to carve out a place of his own. He wants Detroit.
A spy without a soul…
Darah was Felan’s spy before he became King of Annwyn. Now he has one last mission for her. He wants her to join the darkling’s Court and discover what Henry’s endgame is. No one trusts the Banished when they gather in great numbers. As Darah gets drawn into Henry’s world she realizes he can give her the one thing she could never find in Annwyn—love. But is love worth betraying her King?
Shona dropped by today to tell us a little about this book:
The Darkling Lord is book 4 in the Court of Annwyn series … however it spins the series in a new direction so it also has a sub-series name of Court of the Banished #1. As you can guess from that it is more focused on the banished fairies living in our world than the fairy world of Annwyn. After spending the first three books (and a novella) exploring the power struggle in Annwyn it was great to be able to look at fairies from a different perspective. The Darkling Lord and the subsequent books Singer of Death and Taming the Assassin have a more urban and less fantasy feel, but as always there are devious fairies, deals to be made and romance. I hope you enjoy this next installment on the Annwyn series!
