Feature book: Kiss It Better
Cassie Freedom has always wanted to help people, even as a child. She lives in the coastal town of Jardin Bay in Western Australia. Her father owns and runs a family business there. Cassie studies hard and becomes a nurse and goes to Africa to work but it is a lot tougher than she thought it would be and she suffers burnout. She comes home to Jardin Bay and hopes that being around family and friends will help her heal and decide what she wants to do with her life. But when she gets there it seems to make it a bit harder and then when her father breaks the news that one of the family workers has been stealing from the company and he plans to sell it, Cassie is very unsure of her feelings.
Theo Morrigan is a doctor and very family oriented. He comes from a big family that run a large company in Melbourne but when his father has a heart attack, he gives up his profession as a doctor and takes on the role of CEO and finds he loves it. He wants to expand the company and get back to the family values that started it in the beginning. So he makes the trip to Jardin Bay to buy JayBay. He also is worried because the board meeting is coming up and there may be problems with his father wanting the CEO position back. Theo is sure that the other board members are happy with him in the job. His father can be a bit fiery at times and he worries it may cause another heart attack.
When Theo rides into Jardin Bay on his bike in leathers and meets the badly dressed Cassie, she immediately thinks he is a sex god. But of course he is there to buy JayBay. Cassie has mixed feelings about this but they meld together from the start and, with advice from Theo, Cassie starts to get her life back on track. He is just the person she needs at the moment and when Cassie’s cousin Leighton starts causing trouble for them, they decide to pretend to be lovers to help with the media. Cassie then goes to Melbourne and this starts a journey with ups and downs to a HEA.
I really enjoyed this story. The characters are so real and alive and the settings beautiful. You get a real feel for both Jardin Bay and Melbourne. As Cassie and Theo get closer and help each other with their problems, and family members play matchmaker, there is a HEA. This is a story that will have you smiling throughout, especially with the banter between them. It is sensual, heart-warming and a great story. I highly recommend this one.
