This week we are talking about…

Concurrent session 2B—Dangerous liaisons

Romantic suspense is a favourite among readers, across all age groups and continents … we dive into the story knowing we can expect some heavy breathing and heart-thumping moments that both terrify and tantalise us, and we do it willingly!

What is it about fatal attractions, political agendas gone bad, time-sensitive escapes or rescues and moral corruption that motivates us to read on? And what about the antics of utterly terrifying psychopaths or a vengeful lover or two? How do our authors build worlds, relationships and adrenalin-inducing moments that have us slapping on our heart rate monitor and devouring their words at the speed of light, sometimes at the expense of eating and sleeping? How do they create characters we’re desperate to know more about, that we barrack for—both the good AND even, sometimes, the seemingly bad? And how do they do it in a way that makes us hold our breath while turning the pages and often makes us question whose side should we really be on?

Register quickly for some secrets and insights into how our authors use everyday lives and everyday people to take us on a rollercoaster of love, laughter, terror and torment … if we don’t make the hairs raise up on the back of your neck at least once, we haven’t done our job!
