ARRC2015: program launch
For the past several months the organising committee has been hard at work developing the program.
We will of course be starting with our traditional welcome reception, which is to be followed by a special evening of trivia and Tim Tams. We think the whole evening is going to be a lot of fun and we are delighted to see how many people are planning to be there on Friday.
We have also included two book launches, and another new idea for us – a fashion parade. Plus of course the very popular awards dinner, where we will reveal our favourite romance books and authors for 2014.
When it came time to set panels we first looked at ways to maximise the number of spots for authors. With more than 90 authors already registered, this had to be a priority. In the end we managed to squeeze 23 breakout sessions into the program, covering a wide variety of topics. We hope there will be something of interest for all romance readers. Best of all it means that we have been able to include more authors than ever in the program.
We then had to choose themes and titles for those 23 sessions, which was a task in itself. Luckily romance is a very diverse genre and offers lots to work with! This year we are again using readers as panel moderators. We thought this worked very well last year to keep the discussions focused on what readers what to talk about. Then came the really fun part – picking authors to be panelists and sending out invitations. We are delighted to say that every invitation we sent has been accepted. That means that everyone listed on the program below is confirmed.
But not all of the breakout sessions are panel discussions. We have included two special sessions that will be just for fun – an author speed dating session and also a special poker session hosted by Kelly Hunter.
We will also be scheduling some exclusive ‘meet an author’ events in tea breaks and at lunch time. (More about these closer to the event.) Our delegates will be run off their feet and spoilt for choice.
Over the coming months we will be posting articles about each of the sessions to tantalise all our delegates. We aim to make the choice of sessions as hard as possible for you all!
So, with the panels now locked in, the program can be unveiled … Click on the pictures below for a closer look, or download a PDF of the full program from HERE.
We’re looking forward to welcoming you all to Canberra in March next year!
