Whitney K-ESaint Patrick’s Day essentials

Ireland had an indefinite charm. It’s present in the bars, in the people, in its natural beauty. And on Saint Patrick’s Day, you encounter Ireland’s spirit! It’s culture.

Now, not all of us can book a flight to Ireland and be there to take part in the Saint Patrick’s Day parade, but you can bring a little bit of the Emerald Isle to you! No matter where you are, or what you have in mind for the day, I’ve got something to get you in the mood!

First things first, you want some great music to shake your shamrocks to! Ireland has an amazing music culture and in my travels there, I had not met a single bad Irish singer.

On Saint Paddy’s day, you can’t go wrong with U2, The Corrs, The Cranberries, The Pogues, The Dubliners and The Script. So get up and dance! Or if you’re at home and not one to dance without an audience, sing along to the ones you know. I’m sure you are all familiar with Galway Girl, particularly the cover by Gerard Butler in P.S. I Love You.

So to get your playlist started, here are a few songs I strongly recommend:
1. Rocky Road to Dublin
2. Black Velvet Band
3. Beautiful Day
4. Elevation
5. Fairytale of New York
6. Linger
7. Galway Girl
8. Devil’s Dance Floor
9. Zombie
10. Sunday Bloody Sunday

GarterNext, you are going to need your best green frock. Pair it with a wacky headband or as I found in a party shop hehe, a Saint Paddy Day themed garter!

Now, you need a thirst, so choose your poison. Be it Jameson Whiskey, a shamrock cocktail, Guinness or an Irish coffee, have a drink! Celebrate with a toast to good health with your friend and shout Slainte!

For you cocktail lovers, here’s a recipe for a Shamrock cocktail:

– 1 1/2 oz Kahlua Coffee liqueur
– 1/2 oz Amaretto liqueur
– 2 ounces Cream

Combine ingredients in a cocktail shaker with ice and strain into a cocktail glass.

So you’ve got the look, you’re feeling good and in the spirit, where to now? I suggest heading to the nearest Irish pub and celebrating with your local enthusiast. There’s nothing like the atmosphere of an Irish pub on Saint Paddy’s Day (even those residing in foreign countries). And if you’re not keen on heading out, why not stay in with a hot Irish date…

I myself know that it’s not easy finding a real Irish date for Saint Paddy’s Day, but you can find a fictional one!

Ladies, meet my Irishmen, Jack and William O’Reilly. As charming as they are handsome, I’m sure you will find them both agreeable company for this Saint Patrick’s Day!

Filled with a passion for writing and a love for romance since the age of fourteen, Whitney can’t imagine anything else she’d rather be than an author. The owner of a grumpy thoroughbred gelding and a frisky mini foxie, Whitney lives on the east coast of Australia, spending most of her time day-dreaming about handsome heroes and turning caffeine into novels.

After travelling to the Emerald Isle, Whitney fell for the Irish charm and wrote her first novel, What Happens in Ireland. You can read more about her novels and the woman herself on her website or connect with her on Facebook and Twitter.

What Happens in IrelandWhat Happens in Ireland

Have you ever wondered what happens in Ireland?

When Australian, Kate Barrow, meets a handsome Irishman in a Dublin bar, she has no idea that he is about to turn her world upside-down and inside-out.

In Ireland to take on a position on a thoroughbred stud, Kate is shocked when her manager-in-co reveals himself to be the same man she’d met in Dublin.

Jack is drawn to Kate. The problem is, she won’t have him. But Jack has always loved a challenge and the intriguing woman from Oz is one he cannot resist.

Harboring the sting of another man’s betrayal, Kate is certain she wants nothing to do with love and nothing to do with Jack O’Reilly. But when naked torsos, Mother Nature and dysfunctional umbrellas start plotting against her resolve, she realizes the charms of an Irishman are going to be hard to resist.

The first novel in the Irish Hearts series What Happens in Ireland presents a light and humorous tale of how trust can sometimes be a hard thing to earn.

Deceive Me in IrelandDeceive Me in Ireland

“Never call a Kerry man a fool until you’re sure he’s not a rogue.”

Her cousin, Kate had warned her about the Irish charm. And Cara had been foolish enough to ignore her. In Ireland to be Maid of Honor in Kate’s wedding, Cara hasn’t a clue that the handsome Irishman who is seated next to her is the infamous brother of her cousin’s fiancé. And William O’Reilly doesn’t plan on telling her. Not yet, anyway.

Silver-tongued and devilishly handsome, William had Cara wondering if he is the same man she met on the plane. Should she give him a chance or heed her cousin’s warning and keep him at a distance?

The same unique and quirky characters from What Happens in Ireland come together again to celebrate the wedding of Kate and Jack in the fresh and humorous sequel, Deceive Me in Ireland.

Like Kate Barrow, her cousin Cara discovers that resisting the charms of an Irishman isn’t as easy as it seems. William O’Reilly is as silver-tongued as his brother, Jack and determined to make the woman realize his worth. And her own.
