Feature book: Fool’s Gold

Fool's GoldFool’s Gold by Cassandra Dean

This is a story of 48 pages and is the second in the series and gives the reader Pearl’s story who we met in Rough Diamond.

Pearl La Monte is the manager of Diamond and she also sings in the Spectaculars held there. Miz Pearl as she is known runs a tight ship at the Diamond. It’s Christmas Eve and she has finally sent all the guests on their way and is ready to go bed as she is missing her friend and the Diamond’s owner, Alice. It is a knock at the door that changes her life. Standing at the door is Ethan Garrett.

Pearl thinks that Ethan holds only disdain for her and what she does but on this night Ethan just wants company. He is frustrated over a letter from his mother who wants him to get over his silly idealism and to come home to take his place in the family business. He finally comes clean with Pearl and as the blizzard hits, they enjoy each other’s bodies.

The pair have the important discussion about themselves and why they think the way they do about each other. It uncovers the depth of their feelings especially for each other and they find out the desire and feelings they have for each other are mutual.

I really enjoyed this story as a follow-up to Rough Diamond as it is often some of the secondary characters we meet that we would love to find out more of what happened to them and if they got their HEA.
