Release day: Darkness Rises

1 October 2013

Today is the official release of Darkness Rises by Dianne Duvall (paperback, ebook and audiobook, Kensington/Zebra). Here’s the blurb:

Darkness RisesDianne Duvall returns to the world of the Immortal Guardians, where danger—and desire—make every decision count. . .

Krysta is used to getting the drop on vampires. Her “special abilities” aren’t much, but the plan is simple—she plays helpless pretty young thing to lure them in. Then her shoto swords come out and it’s bye-bye, bloodsucker. Until one night she finds herself with an unexpected ally. He’s a vampire, all right, but different. Mysterious. Handsome. And more interested in saving her skin than draining it.

Étienne has been an Immortal Guardian for two hundred years—long enough to know that Krysta is special. He can’t stop thinking about her long legs, even more than her short swords. Then he discovers the vamps she’s exterminating have friends in high places, and the Guardians are in danger too. He’ll have to accept Krysta’s help to save them. The stakes for a mortal are high. But the cost to his heart might be higher. . .

Dianne dropped by today to tell us a little about this book:

Paranormal romance has long been my favorite genre. It takes all of the action and excitement of the horror movies I enjoy and combines it with the romance and HEAs I adore. What I like most in paranormal romances, however, are the strong heroines and the alpha males who love them. Krysta Linz, the heroine in Darkness Rises, is as strong as they come. Once the victim of a vicious vampire attack, Krysta has dedicated her life to slaying every blood-sucking, psychotic vampire she can find. She does a fantastic job of it, too . . . until her vampire hunting activities bring her to the attention of Immortal Guardian Étienne d’Alençon. Étienne has always admired strong women. So, when he sees Krysta (a mere mortal) take on four vampires by herself, he is instantly fascinated. Soon sparks begin to fly as he endeavours to learn more about her and the hunter becomes the hunted.

You can read an excerpt of Darkness Rises and learn more about the Immortal Guardians on Dianne’s website and buy it at Amazon and Barnes and Noble

    Hey Diana,

Does Krysta’s special abilities extend beyond her use of the shoto swords? I guess I’ll have to read on to find out. Congrat’s on the release🙂

Hi! Yes, they do. Krysta has another talent that gives her an edge when battling vampires that are so much faster and stronger than she is. I hope you’ll like it!

Hi Dianne, sounds great. My apologies for getting your name wrong too. It sounds like Krysta knows just what she wants and how to get it. Good luck with the book.
