ARRC2011: Silent Auction update #5

19 March 2011

The Silent Auction will be held on Saturday 26 March 2011 at the Swiss Grand Resort, in conjunction with ARRC2011. Believe it or not we still have items coming in. Two parcels that we know are in the mail will be listed as soon as they arrived – watch out for book bundles from Susan Wiggs and JR Ward! That will take us to Item 190. How incredibly generous all the authors have been!

As the auction is only a week away now, we thought we should give you some idea of how it will run on the day. In particular, take note of the payment methods we will (and won’t) have available.

The Silent Auction room will be open in between all convention sessions on Saturday, as well as during tea breaks and at lunchtime, so that delegates can browse through the items on display and place their bids.

Each item will have a bid sheet where members can write their name and the amount they bid. Please also include your delegate number in case we have any difficulty with your hand writing.

Bidding on items will close at 5.00 pm on Saturday.

We will be accepting payments for items between 5.30 and 6.30 pm on Saturday evening. After that items will have to be paid for on Sunday morning. If you have not paid for your item by 11.00 am on Sunday morning the item will be awarded to the next highest bidder.

No items can be taken until they are paid for.

Note that we will not have EFTPOS or credit card facilities at the venue. If you wish to pay via either of these methods you will need to use a computer in the business centre to make an online transfer or PayPal payment, print out a receipt for the payment, and present the receipt in order to claim your item. The business centre is open to all guests staying at the hotel.

Alternatively payment can be made by cheque or cash. There is an ATM situated on the lower ground floor of the venue.

We will not be posting items that are not collected—it is your responsibility to collect any items you win before you leave the venue. There are a few items that will not be available at the auction for viewing – these will be mailed by the author directly to the winner.

A list of all the items available can be found on our blog, and the items will also be listed in the program handbook you receive when you arrive at the convention.
