Release day: Double Down

31 July 2012

Today is the official release of Double Down by Katie Porter (ebook, Samhain). Here’s the blurb:

As part of the 64th Aggressor Squadron, Major Ryan “Fang” Haverty flies like the enemy to teach Allied pilots how not to die. The glittering excess of the Strip can’t compare to the glowing jet engines of his F-16. But a sexy, redheaded waitress in seamed stockings? Now she gets his blood pumping.

Cassandra Whitman’s good-girl ways haven’t earned any slack from her manager ex-boyfriend, or prevented a bad case of frazzle from holding down two and a half jobs. She sure wouldn’t mind letting the handsome Southern charmer shake up her routine.

Their wild weekend lives up to Sin City’s reputation. Especially when they discover a matched passion for roleplaying. For Cass, it’s an exciting departure from her normal, shy persona. But for Ryan, it triggers memories of a time when his fetish drove away the woman he loved—leaving him reluctant to risk a repeat performance.

Except Cass refuses to settle for ordinary ever again. She’s about to show the man with hair-trigger hands that she’s got a few surprise moves of her own.

Warning: This book contains dirty-hot roleplaying, featuring an all-alpha fighter pilot and an ambitious waitress with a fabulous imagination. Also: dressing-room sex, a plaid schoolgirl skirt, and a sprinkling of spankings.

Carrie Lofty and Lorelie Brown, the co-writing team behind Katie Porter, stopped by today to tell us a little about their first erotic romance:

Lorelie and I have been friends and critique partners for six years. In 2010, Lorelie had an idea for a contemporary erotic romance set in Las Vegas, but she couldn’t quite make it work. I helped brainstorm to fit the pieces together, which wound up including piloting instructors for the Air Force, stationed just outside of Sin City. Brainstorming became co-plotting, and eventually co-writing. Thus the “Vegas Top Guns” series was born. In it, these uninhibited romantic partnerships explore the many forms desire can take—including role-playing, erotic power exchange, male submission, and voyeurism. Double Down, the series debut, features Major Ryan “Fang” Haverty, whose secret desire is for role-playing. He grew up poor and envisions a perfect, respectable life to escape that past. Meeting a shy waitress eager to bust out of her repressive life is exactly what he needs, but it certainly doesn’t fit with his idealized future. Cassandra Whitman uses their accidental foray into roleplaying as a means of coming out of her shell. She has to convince him that he doesn’t have to hide from his desires if they have trust and love. Lorelie and I wrote these books because we wanted to. Because we had fun playing with the idea of couples pairing off both sexually and romantically. And because, like slightly tipsy girls at a hens night, giggling about cute boys can be a fantastic time. We have many books to be published by Samhain in the next two years, but this was our first and for that reason, we’re exceedingly happy to celebrate its release day.

This sounds like so much fun! I’m looking forward to reading it Does Fang dress up too? :D

He does! Well, first of all, he’s in the Air Force. Uniforms! And he’s a fighter pilot. Flight suits! But yes, eventually he gets into character a couple times. They’re real turning points for him, when he’s forced to admit that he likes participating in his fetish–not just watching Cass act it out for him.

Ooh la-la. It does sound like a lot of fun. And there’s nothing better than a handsome man in uniform. I’m sure it will fly off the shelves. Good luck!

Goodness, no! There are five for a reason. We’re so grateful that Samhain is publishing the first three back-to-back in July, Aug and Sept. That way we can demonstrate early that we have a man for every mood! Thanks again, aimskye. Hope you enjoy them!

Another series to read! This sounds like a lot of fun :) And The Vegas is a great setting for sexy shenanigans. I’ve just had a look at the other covers…I’m going to be walking around the rest of the afternoon with a dopey grin on my face.

That’s pretty much how we’ve been smiling for the last couple months. They’re gorgeous covers! Hope the romances inside are worth all that masculine perfection!
