Romance by the Sea

July 19, 2012

A feast of words for romance readers and writers–8 September 2012

Romance by the Sea is your opportunity to meet some of Australia’s best-loved romance authors, including Stephanie Laurens, Keri Arthur, Anne Gracie, Marion Lennox, Fiona Lowe, Sarah Mayberry, Lilian Darcy, Carol Marinelli and MJ Scott, plus Jennifer Kloester, biographer to the fabulous Georgette Heyer.

This is a fundraiser for Cottage by the Sea (www.cottagebythesea.com.au), a children’s charity that offers fantastic seaside programs for disadvantaged children, giving them an experience of a lifetime. Take a look at why we’d love you to support us in supporting them.

The cost is $100 ($70 of which will be receipted as a tax deductible donation to Cottage by the Sea). Price includes a delicious, light lunch at the historic Queenscliff Hotel, insights into the lives and loves of your favourite authors, and readings and signings at venues all over town. If you’d like to make a weekend of it, there’ll be a pay-as-you-go dinner on Saturday night. We’ll have more signings on Sunday morning, with authors again available to mingle and chat, plus an opportunity to tour Cottage by the Sea.

Gather your fellow romantics and come and play. Bookings at www.romancebythesea.net or phone 03 5258 3645 (SeaviewGallery, Queenscliff, 10 am to 5 pm)

Romance by the Sea is on Saturday 8 September from 10 am to 5 pm, at the Queenscliff Hotel, Gellibrand Street, Queenscliff, Victoria. Bookings essential.

I’m so looking forward to this. For those who’ve never been to Queenscliff, it’s a beautiful little seaside town, with lots of places to stay if you want to make a weekend of it, and if you were ever a fan of the TV show Sea Change (and who wasn’t?) there will be some locations you’ll recognize and enjoy. It’ll be a relaxed way to catch up with some of your local aussie authors, too, so I’m hoping to see some of you there.

I’m with you, Anne – it’s going to be so much fun. Queenscliff is gorgeous, I get to hang out with a bunch of people who love romance as much as I do. What’s not to love about this situation?

Wish I could be there. Too far to travel from Queensland, I’m afraid. Hope it’s a great success and you raise lots of money for the kids.

Thanks, Sandy, it’s a shame you don’t have a plane to whizz down. It’s going to be lots of fun, and we hope to raise a good sum for Cottage by The Sea. As Sarah said, what’s not to love about this event?
